Missy has a subplot: she’s caught stealing a small cross from a roadside memorial (for a teenager who died in a car crash). Mary is horrified. Missy says, “It was pretty. And he’s dead. Mary scolds her, but then notices Missy looks genuinely shaken. Pastor Jeff sighs. Sheldon asks, “If God is all-knowing, why did He create a universe where even the smartest person (me) can’t solve every problem?” The congregation stares.
