You cannot run custom firmware on a patched Switch via the RCM exploit.
Modchip solutions are becoming more streamlined. While they still require soldering, newer "solderless" ribbon cable kits are emerging for specific modchips. If you aren't in a rush, keep an eye on the community forums. The prices for these mods may drop as time goes on. my switch is patched
