Balika Vadhu Season 1

Season 1 challenged the Indian notion that marriage is the ultimate goal of a woman's life. By having Anandi’s first marriage fail and allowing her to find happiness in a second marriage (widow remarriage/divorcee remarriage), the show tackled the stigma surrounding divorced women in rural India.

Season 1 garnered numerous awards, including the Indian Telly Awards for Best Serial and Best Actress. It was also one of the few Indian shows to be adapted into a Bengali and Kannada version, attesting to its pan-India appeal. balika vadhu season 1
