Pro - Tv Sopcast
In the mid-2000s, bandwidth was expensive and upload speeds were limited. The P2P model allowed a single "seed" (the source of the broadcast) to stream to thousands of viewers without requiring a massive server farm. This democratized broadcasting, allowing individuals to "re-broadcast" television signals captured via TV tuner cards to a global audience.
Sopcast itself was a neutral technology (a "conduit"), but the content transmitted through it was almost exclusively copyrighted material broadcast without authorization. Re-transmitting a terrestrial TV signal over the internet without a license violates copyright law regarding public performance and distribution. pro tv sopcast
