"El Presidente" concludes its debut season with a strong episode that cements its status as one of the most unique sports dramas on streaming. It is less about football and more about the fragility of the human ego, wrapped in a true-crime bow. Highly recommended for those who enjoy shows like Narcos or Succession , but with a distinctly Latin American satirical flair.
This episode is the season’s pivot point from slow-burn political thriller to outright tragedy. Sergio’s arc — from willfully ignorant to complicit to victim — is handled with restraint. The decision to leave his family’s fate unseen is more chilling than any gore.
The tension in this episode is different from the rest of the season. It isn't about whether Jadue will get caught—at this point, he is in too deep. Instead, the tension comes from the "justification." The episode does a great job of portraying how Jadue rationalizes his actions. He isn't stealing; in his mind, he is "elevating" Chilean football and fighting the antiquated tyranny of the old guard. The finale captures the seductive nature of power better than any previous episode.
