Like many of you, I recently updated Windows 11 and my laptop keyboard stopped working completely. No error messages, just unresponsive keys. The mouse/trackpad worked fine, but I couldn't type anything.
From a developer perspective, Microsoft is aggressively updating the to support new standards (like faster polling rates). Unfortunately, these new drivers break legacy handshake protocols that older mechanical and membrane keyboards rely on.
: Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager . Expand Keyboards , right-click your device (often "HID Keyboard Device" or "Standard PS/2 Keyboard"), and select Uninstall device . Restart your computer; Windows will automatically reinstall the driver upon reboot.
