Position welding is 20% amperage and 80% body mechanics. If you can weld a 6G pipe in 2" schedule 80, you can weld anything.
The 4 main positions you need to know: 🔹 Pipe rotates. Axis is horizontal. Easiest. 🔹 2G (Horizontal Fixed): Pipe is horizontal, but you cannot roll it. Weld axis is vertical. Tricky puddle control. 🔹 5G (Vertical Fixed): Pipe is vertical. You weld around the circumference horizontally. Requires stepping techniques. 🔹 6G (Inclined – 45°): The gold standard certification.
