أيُّها المبعوث فينا جئت بالأمر المطاع جئت شرَّفت المدينة مرحبًا يا خير داع

: It remains a staple in Islamic gatherings, Mawlid celebrations, and school curriculum globally.

The phrase “full moon” here is a metaphor for the Prophet’s radiant face and noble character. Even today, Muslims across the world sing this nasheed as an expression of love and reverence. It is often taught to children and recited in groups, sometimes with a simple duff (frame drum) accompaniment.

Tala‘al-Badru ’Alaynā is one of the oldest and most beloved Islamic songs (nasheed). It was first sung by the young women of Medina to welcome the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) during his migration (Hijrah) from Mecca to Medina in 622 CE. The tune is gentle and joyful, often performed at weddings, on the night of the Prophet’s birth (Mawlid), and at other celebrations.
