Quackprek ^new^ Jun 2026
Many QuackPreK programs promise that toddlers will be reading fluently by age three. They flash vocabulary cards, use passive video content, and drill phonemes for hours. Yet, decades of research from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Society for Research in Child Development (SRCD) show that pushing early decoding before a child’s brain has developed the necessary myelination for sustained focus can lead to reading avoidance, increased anxiety, and no long-term academic advantage by third grade.
