If the premiere of Snowpiercer laid the tracks, Episode 2 (“Prepare to Brace”) throws the throttle wide open. We’ve established the frozen hellscape outside and the rigid class war inside. Now, the show does what any good sci-fi thriller should: it forces its characters into a pressure cooker and turns up the heat.

“Prepare to Brace” is on-the-nose with its metaphor, and that’s fine. The physical “brace” order mirrors the social brace: the rich cling to their status, the poor brace for impact of a different kind.
