Blocked Fridge - Drain ((install))
The "drain hole" is part of the auto-defrost system. Moisture from the air condenses on the back wall, turns into water droplets, and is supposed to flow down into this hole to be evaporated by the compressor's heat. Blockages occur due to:
Puddles forming under the salad crisper drawers or at the very bottom of the fridge interior. blocked fridge drain
In frost-free refrigerators, a defrost heater periodically melts ice buildup on the evaporator coils. The resulting water flows down a channel to a (typically located at the back wall of the fresh food compartment, just above the bottom shelf). This water travels through a flexible drain tube to an evaporation pan located near the compressor, where ambient heat evaporates it. The "drain hole" is part of the auto-defrost system
