Madagascar Movie Font Review

The font does a lot of heavy lifting for the film's branding. Before you even watch the movie, the typography tells you three things:

A sharp essay might note: using a Western typewriter font for an African island ironically recalls how Madagascar was “documented” by European explorers, naturalists, and colonists. The movie never engages with this history—but the font choice unconsciously echoes the archival, classifying gaze of empire.
