Windows 11 [upd] - Disable Modern Standby

If the registry edit PlatformAoAcOverride is set to 0 , Windows attempts to use Legacy S3. If the BIOS supports S3, the system will sleep traditionally.

| After disabling Modern Standby | Expected result | |--------------------------------|------------------| | powercfg /a shows S3 available | Success (on supported hardware) | | System resumes from sleep slower (1–3 sec) | Normal | | Battery drain overnight < 1% (if no wake timers) | Good | | Wake-on-LAN and scheduled tasks may not work | May need to re-enable wake timers | | Windows Hello facial recognition may require password after sleep | Possible driver regression | | Instant wake (lid open → desktop) becomes slower | Trade-off | disable modern standby windows 11

Windows 11 places strict requirements on drivers for Modern Standby. Legacy hardware or devices with drivers not optimized for S0 often cause system crashes (BSOD) upon waking, or failure to wake at all (requiring a hard reset). Reverting to S3 bypasses these driver optimization requirements, as S3 is handled more directly by the system BIOS/UEFI. If the registry edit PlatformAoAcOverride is set to
