In " The Ties That Bind ," Clark Kent (Tyler Hoechlin) is forced to confront the source of his increasingly painful and debilitating visions. After realizing that the DOD’s medical team under cannot find a solution, Clark seeks help from the one person he previously considered an enemy: his half-brother, Tal-Rho . Clark and Jordan accompany the imprisoned Tal-Rho to his Fortress, where a hologram of their mother, Lara Lor-Van , reveals that the visions are caused by an "invasive cosmological event" linked to something stirring deep within the Shuster Mines.
