The UCAT is designed to test aptitude rather than learned knowledge. The questions are divided into four distinct sections. Below are examples representing the style and difficulty of the actual exam.
Insurance covers 80% of the nights stayed cost. It does not cover the registration fee. Nights cost = £600. Insurance pays = 0.80 × £600 = £480.
She pointed at the screen. “Look at that question again. The ‘vaccinated flu’ problem. Your first instinct is to panic. Your second instinct is to pick 2%, because it’s the number right there. But that’s the trap. The UCAT example questions aren’t there to teach you math. They’re there to teach you distrust —a healthy, surgical distrust of your own gut.”
“Correct,” Anya said. “But I stared at it for two minutes because I thought, ‘Resilient. Insomniac. A&E.’ I started picturing my tired, brilliant colleagues. I brought real life into the logic. The UCAT cares if you can be a cold, fair, lightning-fast machine when a patient’s life depends on triage.”
The SJT measures your capacity to identify appropriate professional behaviour in clinical and ethical scenarios. It consists of 69 questions in 26 minutes.
