Director Venkat K. has an eye for composition. The frames look like a period painting—lots of ochre, dry grass, and blue denim. Unfortunately, the pacing is uneven. The second act drags significantly with a romantic subplot that feels like it belongs in a different movie. The 158-minute runtime could have easily been trimmed by 15 minutes to tighten the narrative.
