It is highly recommended to run DISM SFC. DISM uses Windows Update to download fresh copies of system files to replace the corrupted ones in your local system image.

If the corruption is isolated to a single app (e.g., Microsoft Word or the Calculator app won't open), you don't need to fix the whole system.

If you started seeing errors recently, you can "time travel" your computer back to a date when the files weren't corrupt.

If none of the above works, your Windows installation may be too damaged to repair piecemeal. Windows 11 makes it easy to reinstall the OS cleanly.
