How to Pin Google Chrome to the Taskbar in Windows 11 Pinning Google Chrome to your taskbar is the most efficient way to access the browser. Unlike Windows 10, Windows 11 has a centered taskbar interface and a simplified Start Menu, which changes the navigation steps slightly. This guide covers three methods to pin the app, as well as troubleshooting tips if the option isn't appearing.
Method 1: Via the Start Menu (Recommended) This is the most reliable method if Google Chrome is already installed but not yet pinned.
Click the Start button (the blue Windows icon) in the center of your taskbar. Type "Chrome" in the search bar that appears. In the search results, look for the Google Chrome icon under the "Best match" section. Right-click on the Google Chrome icon. Select Pin to taskbar from the context menu.
Note: You can also select "Pin to Start" to add it to the pinned tiles in your Start Menu, but "Pin to taskbar" keeps it accessible at all times.
The Chrome icon will now appear on your taskbar.
Method 2: From the Desktop or File Explorer If you have a Chrome shortcut on your desktop or want to navigate to the file directly, use this method.
Navigate to your Desktop or open File Explorer. Locate the Google Chrome application.
If you cannot find it, the default installation path is usually: C:\Program Files\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe
Right-click the Chrome icon. A context menu will appear. You may see "Pin to taskbar" immediately. If not:
Select Show more options (usually at the bottom of the menu). In the expanded classic menu, click Pin to taskbar .
Method 3: If Chrome is Already Open If you are currently using Chrome, you can pin it without closing the window.
Look for the Chrome icon on your taskbar at the bottom of the screen (it may have a small blue line underneath it, indicating it is active). Right-click the Chrome icon on the taskbar. Select Pin to taskbar from the menu.
