After a district inspection, Superintendent Crystal (guest star Leslie Ann Warren) informs Ava that Abbott Elementary is at risk of being placed on a “needs improvement” list — and possibly closed — unless test scores rise. The teachers (Janine, Gregory, Barbara, Melissa, and Jacob) are horrified but unsurprised, given Abbott’s chronic underfunding and Ava’s lax leadership.
